Snoop Dogg releases 18th album “From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites” on 4/20
For this year's 4/20 celebration, Snoop Dogg treated his fans to a special delight: his 18th studio album, titled "From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites." This 36-minute-long G-funk project is a nostalgic throwback to classic West Coast synths, enriched with Nate Dogg-inspired vocal melodies and deep bass grooves, guaranteed to transport listeners to a sunnier state of mind.
The album kicks off with "CEO," setting the tone for what promises to be an exhilarating and enjoyable musical journey. The album comprises ten tracks, with two pot-themed titles, namely "Roaches in My Ashtray" and "Left My Weed." Snoop Dogg also collaborates with notable artists like Kokane, a fellow N.W.A collaborator, and former Eastsidaz co-members Tray Dee and Goldie Loc, alongside rising stars from the West Coast rap scene, Mozzy and Larry June. Staying true to the essence of G-funk, the lyrics revolve around traditional topics: cars, money, sex, and, naturally, weed. As the self-proclaimed "King of 420," Snoop Dogg also premiered the music video for the fourth track, "Look Around," featuring J Black. In this nostalgic video, Snoop pays tribute to classic rap records by recreating iconic cover art from LL Cool J's "Radio," Ice Cube's "AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted," Ice-T's "Power," and more.
When Snoop Dogg isn't busy creating the next weed-smoking anthem in the recording studio, he's actively engaged in his latest project: Triller Fight Club. This pay-per-view boxing entertainment platform, co-owned by Snoop, has already featured top-charting artists like Justin Bieber, Doja Cat, and Saweetie gracing its stage. Additionally, Snoop's rap supergroup, Mt. Westmore, consisting of Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Too $hort, and E-40, made a smashing debut with their first single "Big Subwoofer" on the fight club platform.
I would give this album 3 out of 4 stars.
