The Lumineers Took Over Sacramento At Electric Christmas
On December 7, 2017, the Golden One Arena in Sacramento hosted the Electric Christmas festival. Prior to the start of the show, DJ Zephyr entertained the crowd during the intervals between sets. Excited fans filled the arena, eagerly anticipating the performances. Adding to the festive atmosphere, artificial snow cascaded down from the arena's ceiling, immersing the pit in a joyful winter ambiance.-+
Kicking off the event, Walk the Moon took the stage by storm, causing an eruption of screams from the audience as the LA band appeared. Lead singer Nicholas Petricca captivated everyone with his energetic and charismatic performance. Fans couldn't resist dancing to Walk the Moon's music, setting a vibrant tone for the evening. The band delighted the crowd with their latest hit, "One Foot," and engaged in lively banter. Walk the Moon concluded their set with the crowd-pleaser "Anna Sun" from their Self Entitled album.
Next up was Portugal. The Man, delivering a captivating and unconventional performance. The Portland, Oregon band created an atmosphere of darkness during the initial songs, evoking a unique vibe. They impressed the audience by covering songs from Metallica and Pink Floyd, adding their distinct touch. Despite the contrast with Walk the Moon's style, Portugal. The Man's performance was still greatly enjoyed. They performed their popular single "Feel It Still" and concluded with "Holy Roller." The fans expressed their adoration by repeatedly chanting lead singer John Gourley's name throughout the set.
Anticipation reached its peak as the headliner, The Lumineers, prepared to take the stage. The moment the band members appeared with their instruments, the crowd erupted in a frenzy of screams and cheers. The Denver band commenced their performance with "Flowers in your Hair."
Lead singer Wesley Schultz engaged with the audience, expressing gratitude for their presence and mentioning their previous performance in Sacramento at Harlows over four years ago.
Fans sang along enthusiastically during renditions of "Ho Hey" and "Ophelia," creating an enchanting atmosphere.
As The Lumineers briefly exited the stage, the clamor for an encore reverberated throughout the arena. After a few minutes, the band returned to perform two more songs, culminating in their fan-favorite, "Stubborn Love." To heighten the experience, machines showered the pit with an abundance of snow as the song reached its climax, prompting fans to reach out and touch the falling flakes with jubilation.
