Drake and Migos get lit in Oakland

Renowned artist Drake graced the vibrant Oracle Arena on Friday night with his Aubrey and the Three Migos tour, captivating a packed audience in a sold-out spectacle.

In the inaugural performance of his three-night residency in Oakland, the multifaceted Toronto rapper, also a familiar face courtside at Warriors' games, delivered an electrifying extravaganza. A symphony of lights, billowing smoke, boundless energy, and an unending stream of lyrical prowess defined the show. Drake's music transcends the boundaries of hip-hop and R&B, spanning a diverse spectrum of styles that mirror his lyrics, touching on subjects ranging from the mundane to matters of the heart. Notably, his 2011 album "Take Care" has even been lauded as a pinnacle of emotive thematic expression.

Kicking off the concert from behind a screen, Drake serenaded the audience with a soulful rendition of "8 out of 10," seamlessly transitioning into the pulsating beats of "Mob Ties." While the opener exuded a '90s hip-hop vibe, the latter track delved deeper into the realm of trap music, characterized by its intricate employment of rhymed triplets. These dynamic performances showcased selections from his 2018 album "Scorpion."

"This show is not about me; this show is about us as a family," Drake emphasized before launching into "Started From The Bottom," a track hailing from his 2013 album "Nothing Was The Same." The entire room seemed to join in a harmonious chorus. The energetic flow continued with "Jumpman," a collaboration with Future from 2015, and "Both," a dynamic joint effort with Gucci Mane. The remainder of his setlist was a fusion of cherished classics and recent releases, featuring crowd favorites like "Controlla," "Hotline Bling," "One Dance," and "Fake Love."

During an electrifying moment, Drake shared the spotlight with Migos, as they graced the stage together for performances of "Versace" and "Narcos," accompanied by a seamless rendition of Michael Jackson's "Rock With You." The grand finale was marked by the Scorpion gem "God's Plan."

The Georgia trio Migos, consisting of Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff, commanded the stage before Drake. Their trap and contemporary hip-hop stylings resonated throughout, with a setlist primarily drawing from their 2017 album "Culture." Energetic tracks like "T-Shirt" and the infectious "Bad and Boujee" showcased their profound connection with the audience. As they belted out the chorus of "Bad and Boujee," the crowd responded in unison with the catchy lyrics, "Drop top, smokin' on cookie in the hotbox."

Migos showcased an eclectic selection spanning their discography, treating the audience to tunes from across their albums. Among the tracks that reverberated through the venue were "Hannah Montana," originating from 2013's "Young Rich N****s," "Handsome and Wealthy" from the 2014 mixtape "No Label II," and the rhythmic duo of "Fight Night" and "Pipe it Up," both emanating from 2015's "Young Rich Nation."
