Pentatonix releases “Please Santa Please” and new album

"Please Santa Please" represents a striking shift from Pentatonix's signature a cappella style, presenting an impressive Christmas anthem that stands shoulder-to-shoulder with classics from Mariah Carey and Irving Berlin.

In the past, the arrival of Santa at the end of the Thanksgiving Day parade signaled the start of the festive season. While the shift from Halloween to Christmas decorations in stores indicates the approaching holidays, the definitive marker for many now comes with the annual release of Pentatonix's Christmas album.

In 2023, Pentatonix returns with what could be their most ambitious holiday project yet. "The Greatest Christmas Hits," a double-CD album, boasts a collection of 31 Christmas-themed songs. This extensive record comprises 23 previously recorded tracks from the group's illustrious 12-year career alongside 8 brand-new recordings, elevating the anticipation for a remarkable musical celebration.

We're diving into a freshly dropped tune for the 2023 festive season: "Please Santa Please."

The song emerges as a spirited holiday anthem, echoing the vibrant energy of "All I Want For Christmas Is You," carried by the consistently remarkable vocals of Kirstin Taylor Maldonado. In the initial verse, she paints a vivid Christmas scene, capturing the essence of the season with its sights and sounds. The second verse pivots into a more romantic tone, where the singer appeals to Santa for the gift of true love.

Accompanying this lively track is a delightful music video showcasing all five members of Pentatonix engaging in holiday antics. The video cleverly interprets the lyrics: while the verses mention a kiss under the mistletoe, the visual narrative reveals that the desired kisses actually come from a group of puppies left at the band’s doorstep by Santa.

This song represents a departure from Pentatonix's usual style. Known for their impressive a cappella renditions created solely with voices, here, the group expands their sound with a full band, incorporating the iconic jingle bells synonymous with modern Christmas tunes.

Despite this shift, the unmistakable melodic and harmonic skill of these hitmakers remains evident. Anticipated to dominate the airwaves this Christmas and poised to become a timeless holiday classic, "Please Santa Please" is set to join the ranks of Mariah Carey and Irving Berlin's iconic Christmas tunes.
